Through Bushnell and Alliance Once More

On our way up through Florida from North Fort Myers, we returned to Paradise Oaks in Bushnell for a last winter visit with our friends Pam and Joe. Over the winter they lost their Tibetan Spaniel, Izzy. Her death was not a complete surprise as her health had deteriorated over the past few months.  Joe and Pam took it hard, of course. Izzy is buried beneath a nice live oak on the campground property.

Little Izzy's death reminds me of the suffering we must go through when our furry kids pass away. Don't want to dwell on that very long.  The good news is that Joe and Pam plan to visit their son in Colorado Springs during summer and will want to meet our friends at Ozzie's rescue group (Breeder Release Adoption Services, Bon Carbo, CO) to possibly identify a new sibling for their remaining dog, Ally (Maltese).

Our campsite this time is one of the ten or so pull thru sites on Row A
Sunday is a very busy day for Pam and Joe as they operate the campground cantina. After church they begin cooking and selling hot dogs and hamburgers.  At 2 o'clock, BINGO begins.  This day, reluctantly, I agreed to play. The pots are huge and somebody has to win after all.  Following BINGO the usual Ice Cream Social crowd swarms the cantina.  Sunday's Grand Finale is a musical jam session that lasts until late in the evening. Crowds drive into the campground from all around the area.

Anyway, I did win $50 at BINGO, much to Pam's chagrin, and it more than made up for the $20 or so loss I had playing "Horse Races" here last November.

After BINGO, I found Wayne pulling Lexie and Ozzie in their trailer.
Our stay here at Paradise Oaks is brien. We want to stop in at Alliance Coach (yes, again) to see if we can get another item or two marked off our repairs list.  We've developed a intermittent leak around a valve at the half bath toilet and we'd like to get that fixed for sure.  Service there has been so much less than desirable, but as we've often discussed, pretty much standard for service providers these days....

We have a small family get-together planned for the week of March 9-15 at Gulf Shores, Alabama and that will be the basis for the next post.  Wayne is concerned that winter isn't finished yet and it's sheer madness to leave south Florida but the plan was made long ago and we will not fail on our promise to attend.
