Friendship Revival

Another thing I like about getting older is the relaxed yet critically important renewal of old friendships. Yesterday, I met one of my very best high school friends for lunch. We had recently reconnected through Facebook (reportedly most used by age 50+ females). In an afternoon, we caught up on 40 years! What joy!

What To Do On A 3-Day Winter Weekend?

The Presidents Day Holiday is Monday and the dreaded snow is scheduled to return. Temperatures are hovering around freezing, on average and I am slowly losing my mind. In an effort to bolster optimism, Wayne and I have decided we'll take advantage of the bad weather to do the unthinkable over the holiday weekend: Income Tax Preparation. Gee Whiz. How long 'till spring?

Snow... Yet Again.

Never has winter been as depressing, cold and snowy as this one. At least it seems that way. Maybe it's because we're SO close to retirement and travel. Snow came last night, stopped, started, stopped and started again. The temperature is holding right about 32 degrees. The yard is spotty white.

Old CMA Guys

A friend of Wayne's from Columbia Military Academy, Terry O'Donnell, was hospitalized last week after a heart attack. On Saturday, several classmates got together for lunch and a visit with Terry. This is the unsavory group, left to right: Tom Colvert, Walker McGinnis, Dan Duke, Wayne and T-Bone Borum.

Passport Renewals

Another "to do" item checked off as we finally got our passport renewals submitted. It will take 4-6 weeks for turnaround. Next... target shooting and gun permits. That's scary.

What's That? A Real Estate Trade?

Stranger things have happened I suppose. When I ran across an ad from someone looking to trade a Gulf Coast condo for a home, we were skeptical to say the least. But after much deliberation, we met the owner and there might be a trade in the making here. He came by to see the house last night and we're planning a ride to the coast. Maybe..

For Sale: 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid

It's time to get rid of all the extras so "Birdie" is for sale now. She's been used so little, it's probably not good for her to sit idle in the garage. We have her advertised on Craigslist.

Begin The Countdown!

I suppose it's being stuck at home with such awful weather that has prompted Wayne to set a tentative date to retire. He says he will be retired on his upcoming birthday in early August. Counting on my fingers, that would mean 6 more months! I'm thrilled to have a date upon which to look with eager anticipation. I'm going to call the July 31,2010 the Big Day!

The Big Snow

Last Friday the much anticipated snowstorm arrived and brought rain, sleet, snow and dreadfully cold temperatures. The Nashville RV Show, which had been scheduled for the weekend was moved to March. Thank goodness. We wouldn't have been able to go as the roads were virtually impassable. We ended up with about 3-1/2" accumulated.
